Common Wealth Charlotte Receives Multiyear Grant from U.S. Bank Foundation
Common Wealth Charlotte (CWC) has announced it has received a $60,000 multiyear grant from the U.S. Bank Foundation. This grant will enable CWC to continue its vital mission of supporting Charlotte’s low-income wage earners and fostering financial capability as a genuine pathway to economic mobility.
With the accessibility of these funds, CWC can reach more families facing financial instability. By facilitating CWC’s growth, the support from the U.S. Bank Foundation will strengthen CWC’s ability to serve economically vulnerable populations and provide critical resources, counseling, and support.
“Grants like this make it possible for us to provide innovative and impactful services, helping families move toward financial independence. Thanks to the U.S. Bank Foundation, our clients will become better equipped to build emergency funds, improve credit scores, reduce reliance on charitable or government financial assistance, and ultimately achieve long-term financial stability,” said Chuck Jones, executive director of Common Wealth Charlotte.
“Supporting the development of small businesses and a dynamic workforce is an investment in today and our future. We’re proud to work with organizations like Common Wealth Charlotte to help promote greater financial literacy and build thriving communities,” said Yuka Hashimoto, community affairs manager at U.S. Bank.
CWC’s work targets critical areas where financial instability intersects with pressing issues such as housing, transportation, education, and healthcare access. By providing financial capability-building services through nonprofits and workforce development agencies across Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, CWC is uniquely positioned to create pathways toward self-sufficiency for individuals and families. Support from the U.S. Bank Foundation is pivotal in ensuring these services reach those who need them most.
“The work we do is deeply personal to every individual and family we serve,” Jones shared. “When a client gains financial stability, it’s not just their immediate needs that are met—their future, their children’s future, and even their community’s future become brighter. The U.S. Bank Foundation’s continued support of our work makes this possible. We can’t thank them enough.”
